No Going Back'' is a national XR event. It happens every sunday. We will have an event here and then review if we want to do more. The event is a silent vigil about our positive hopes for the future. We will stand masked, socially distanced, holding our messages for our future. We feel it is important to include messages about social justice and a just transition. We will gather behind the Eric Statue at 10.45 for a check in then stand in distanced groups up up to 6 people along the prom from 11 to 11.30. Then we will meet in a distanced way to review how it went. Finished by 11.45. We send the photos to national XR. Please make and bring a message, picture, whatever you want to hold in the vigil. And a mask/scarf. Some ideas for messages . . . Planet or Profit; Social Justice for those affected by climate change; No more business as usual; Trust the People; Be the Change; Actions not words; No Going Back; New normal can be a better normal . . . Social justice for all . . . but feel free to create whatever is positive that you want to say . . . “Making and holding a sign seems such an insignificant action in the midst of a global pandemic and climate crisis. But it turns out it is a powerful thing to do. Because it’s about more than written words. It’s about believing in something enough to stand up and be counted . . . speaking truth to power and finding others willing to do the same.” For some the experience is solitary and meditational. For others it is about being part of a group and a community.
