An Action is Planned for 14th June 2.00-4.00: Thorpe Woods Meet 1.45 at the junction of Southill Road and Plumstead Road East, Thorpe St. Andrew, Norwich, NR7 0LR. Social Distancing Requirements: Social Distancing and face masks will be mandatary. The protest will be alongside the woodland 2 metres apart. Be aware that there may be a risk of arrest due to current restrictions. Action Background: 300 houses are planned to be built in Thorpe Woodlands and this will mean wildlife will suffer. If the woods are built on some species will disappear from the woods forever and others will see their populations reduced, meaning they are more vulnerable in the future. It is simple science - less land for wildlife means fewer species and fewer numbers of each species. What's required: Bring placards one metre in height. Black cross painted through the centre. All the arms of the cross need to be 15cm wide. The cross bar will need to be three quarters of the way up. In white list one of the species threatened: Birds: blackbird blackcap blue tit bullfinch chiff chaff goldcrest great tit long tailed tit nuthatch robin song thrush sparrowhawk tawny owl wren tree creeper siskin redwing Reptiles/amphibians: great crested newt and grass snake.
